Ten years ago I didn’t have to just pop down to Bournemouth; I had to fly to the other side of the States. Ten years ago, I was in exactly the same position as you – and I’ve had loads of emails from people saying “Oh it’s okay for you. You’ve got a database of customers. You’ve got a business, you’ve got blah blah blah.”
When I started I was sat in a room like you are today with exactly the same background and information that you have. I had no database of customers – I mean zero customers. I had no products to sell. I was a house building guy, you know? I had no idea how to do this stuff. I had no products to sell. I had no previous experience in direct response marketing. I hadn’t got a clue about that stuff. I didn’t know about the internet, I didn’t know about direct mail. I had no idea about any of this stuff. And I had a limited budget.
So, ten years ago I was sat in a room, exactly as you are today, or this weekend, listening to a number of people – I mean, I went to see one particular guy, the guy that started me off, a gentleman called Bill Myers. He’d put on a seminar and he’d also brought along a number of other speakers who were specialists in their field, because there is no way, and particularly as Paul was explaining, because my voice is a bit dodgy as you can probably hear, there’s no way I can spend all three days up here talking. So I’m going to bring on a specialist in their field to teach you specific things.
For example, has anyone seen ‘The Secret’? Or, did anyone see the little mailing I put out with ‘The Secret’ DVD? A marvellous piece of work, if you haven’t seen ‘The Secret’ get a copy of ‘The Secret’. One of the main teachers on ‘The Secret’, a gentleman called Bob Proctor, called me and said “I understand you’re doing this thing for children’s charity, would you let me come over and give a hand?” We’re absolutely blessed to have Bob Proctor with us this afternoon.
Because one of the problems I have is when I do live workshops one of the problems is, we teach people stuff, we give them everything they need to get started. And there’s something missing inside their head. They don’t have that motivation, that drive, that push to actually get ahead and do that thing and take action. Bob’s going to knock the sense into you this afternoon. He’s going to get you taking action.
We’ve got a gentleman, I mean, if you’ve read for example the Cash On Demand course I tend to talk about some of my past students. I’ve never spoken about this guy before, this gentleman, a guy called Simon, started three years ago – he came to one of my workshops and I think he’s just pulled in three million pounds. I thought it would be very useful for you to hear from him tomorrow to see exactly what he did when he left the workshop. And he’s going to take you through it step by step to show you how he’s pulled in those three million pounds.
I’ve had a number of emails from people saying “How do we get on page one of Google?” Would be a handy thing to know if you’re going to do search engine marketing. ”How do we get to page one of Google?” We’ve got an expert this weekend who’s going to come on stage and teach you that.
People want to talk about copywriting. We’ve got some of the best copywriters on the planet coming on this weekend.
We have some of the top internet marketers. We have everything covered. We have all the specifics that you need so that on Monday morning you can go away and get your business started. We’ve put under one roof this weekend.
What you have in front of you hopefully is a hardback notebook and a pen. Those were the tools I took to America with me ten years ago this weekend. You need to make notes. I’m not going to give you some huge binder of stuff with everyone’s Powerpoint presentations, everybody’s scripts; everybody’s whole deal. You need to make the notes that are relevant to you. I think I sent a little piece of paper out before you came here, and I said if you hear a really great idea – and you’re going to hear loads of great ideas this weekend – draw a little light bulb by the side.
I’ve still got my book from ten years ago and there’s light bulbs on every page. And to flick back through that even ten years later, just one of those ideas can be worth a million quid to you. If you don’t have a piece of paper you need to find a piece of paper. You’re going to need to take loads of notes.
How many people are – can we just have a show of hands – how many people are subscribers to the Cash on Demand system? I think the majority of the people in the room, yeah? If you’re not a subscriber to the Cash on Demand system, jot down your name, address and telephone number on a piece of paper, hand it in at the desk out the front and they’ll send you a package in the post.
You do need to be a subscriber to the Cash on Demand system because what we’re going to try and do this weekend will compliment the contents of the course. It’s not a complete substitute for, it’s a compliment to it, okay. I mean, there are things in the Cash on Demand system for example where it takes two hours just to teach you one little thing on DVD. I thought it would be wrong of me to come up here and do that two hours when all you’ve got to do is actually watch the DVD. Okay, so what we’re going to do is we’re cramming everything into this weekend to compliment what we do on Cash on Demand.
Okay, lets get started. When I was sat in that seminar ten years ago I had one of those light bulb moments. Because I come from this retailing/house building background, I thought you know, “This guy’s actually onto something.” Jot these things down. This guy at the front was telling me about this little business he was running from home, making 30 to 40 thousand dollars a month working from home.
He told me about high margins. If you’re going to get into this business you’re going to need high margins. I’m going to show you later on where the total cost of the product to get it to your customer is about 50 pounds and it sells for 5,000 pounds.
It’s not like poor old Dad in his shop buying a packet of screws, marking it up by 33 and a third and trying to make some money. These are huge margins, you need big margins. You need low marketing costs, we’re going to show you some very, very low marketing costs. In Cash on Demand we teach you a free marketing system.
You don’t want to have large overheads, when poor old Dad and my Grandfather, they both took on overheads, they both took on premises, they both took on staff, they both took on loads of stock. The business that we’re going to teach you this weekend is portable. You don’t have to have large stocks of product – I’ll show you how today, if for example you’re selling a CD product when you get an order you run a copy off for the customer. You don’t have to have a whole warehouse full of product. There is definitely no waiting round for your customers, there’s none of this sitting by the till waiting for the money to come in, the money comes in the till whether you’re there or on the beach. And this whole thing using fulfilment houses can be run on autopilot and we’ll cover that this weekend.
See, the retail model that I’ve grown up with was very much like this: that’s a typical year in retail. Poor old Dad would sit in his shop and the sales would come in, and you’d get highs and lows depending on the season. But he had to be sat there every single day of the year virtually. Used to take Sundays off. But that’s the typical graph for a retail establishment. You have to be in that shop – I mean, Dad, we hardly took holidays when I was a kid. Dad couldn’t afford to take holidays because he couldn’t afford to shut the shop. If he shut the shop the bank didn’t get paid.
That is the Cash on Demand model, that’s the model we’re teaching you this weekend and that’s the system I teach on the full Cash on Demand course.
Fantastic blog! Great!
