I’m often asked by my students if there’s one cash on demand method which is quicker at generating money quicker than any other. Well actually there is one which is very quick. How quick?
Well how does £1/2 MILLION POUNDS IN A FEW HOURS SOUND to you (yes I’ve done it plenty of times)?
I first ‘discovered’ this as I sat in awe in, if I recall correctly, the Spring of 2000. I was in Las Vegas attending an Internet Marketing Seminar both to learn the internet marketing techniques that were still new to us Brits and also to study the seminar model even more closely.
And it was this second part which I must say intrigued the most at the time because I could see a lot of money could be made in running workshops and seminars if used in conjunction with the cash on demand system.
As I sat at the back of the seminar I started to look at the seminar not as an attendee but with a certain level of DETACHMENT from it.
I began STUDYING the audience reaction. And it was while doing this on the second day that something happened which has resulted in me MAKING MILLIONS AND MILLIONS OF POUNDS through my cash on demand business.
It occurred when one particular speaker got up to talk and from the moment he did, I became totally hooked on the idea of making a lot of money quickly and easily by using workshops/seminars.
I remember watching for what must have been a 3 hour presentation by this speaker…
…but more importantly I watched VERY carefully as he pulled over $390,000 in ‘back of the room sales’ right in front of my eyes.
I’d never seen anything like it…
Most of the seminars I had attended in the USA in the early days of leaning this business were ones where a HIGH TICKET PRICE was paid and the speakers gave the CONTENT FOR FREE!
But I had never seen a seminar with a relatively high ticket price ($997 if I recall) where a speaker offers a back of the room product and pulls in almost $400,000 FOR JUST THREE HOURS WORK!
Actually I can still remember how just moments before I witnessed this guy in action, a friend of mine, Marlon Sanders, (if you’ve ever seen Marlon speak on stage, you’ll know he’s a little eccentric) rushed over to see me and said in a hushed voice:-
“Dude! You gotta see this next guy. He’ll blow you away with what he does. He makes all the other speakers look like freekin amateurs…”
Or words to that effect J
In fact, Marlon wouldn’t shut up especially as the guy got up on stage. I remember he kept whispering in my ear :–
“Can you see what he’s doing now”? “That was clever”…”he’s gonna pull $quarter of a mill!! You just watch…seriously dude. I’m telling ya…”
And so it went on :- )
Now Marlon is a serious marketer that I have a huge amount of respect for … a cash on demand type marketer if you like … and if Marlon says to pay attention I PAY ATTENTION!
So I studied intently … I watched EVERY SINGLE move the guy made … and wrote copious notes (that I have kept to this day).
Then it happened … he flicked the switch … and in minutes was nearly $400,000 better off…
At the end of his three hour talk he asked people to come to the stage with their credit cards and pay him (or at least his business partner who was stood by the side of the stage with a credit card machine, primed and ready) the $3,997 he was asking for the product he’d just to all intents and purposes pitched.
I watched in awe as people jumped out of their seats and almost RAN TO GET IN THE QUEUE. That’s no exaggeration, they really couldn’t get to hand over their $3,997 fast enough.
I was dumbfounded just sitting there counting each and every one of them. I couldn’t get the exact number because it was such a rush, but this guy easily took over $399,000 in those few minutes … and probably much more.
I walked back to the MGM Grand Hotel that evening – almost in a daze.
It was a mix of excitement and almost disbelief.
I immediately wrote an email to my cash on demand copywriter in the UK who I was swapping emailed notes with, back and forth on a new project we were doing together.
I was so excited in fact, that I’m sure he either thought I’d mistyped the email and had accidentally added an extra ZERO in the figure I emailed over to him, or he thought I’d been on the champagne.
But my email was correct:-
“The guy stood up on stage – just an ordinary looking guy in a polo shirt and casual trousers. Not the sort of guy you’d give a second glance in the street.
He looked like an ordinary person. In fact, while we were watching the rest of the seminar, I had assumed he was just one of the attendees sat at the back on the same table as me.
Yet he pulled in almost $400,000 in three hours!!”
Actually I later found out how accurate that email of mine was … and not just about the money. When I said he was just an ordinary guy I couldn’t have been more right.
You see he really was just a normal down to earth guy. In fact, I later learned that HE DOESN’T EVEN LIKE SPEAKING IN FRONT OF PEOPLE … and he DOESN’T like it to such an extent that he has gone on to license his seminar content and ‘sales pitch’ so that other people who DO like speaking can make his presentation, make the sales, and pay him a % OF THE PROFITS!
Yet despite this, what he did, and how he did it was so powerful that even someone who hates speaking, made SEVERAL HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS within just 3 hours.
It totally changed the way I thought about Workshops and Seminars…
You see at the time I’d already done a few ‘FREE’ seminars myself where I had offered a small back of the room product … priced at maybe £97 a box … and I had been satisfied to take 100 sales from a presentation.
I figured that £9,700 less my costs would provide me a great profit of around £5,000.
Not bad compared the salary I used to be paid when I was in the house building trade. Do that two or three times a week and you have a pretty good income … well above the national average at least!
But it was pathetic when compared to the guy I’d just seen pulling in hundreds of thousands in just hours … and NOT from people who were sitting in a FREE seminar but from people who had ALREADY PAID $1000 to be in attendance.
It was a real wake up call. I was making a £5,000 profit … he was probably making at least a £200,000 profit. Yet we would have had about the same costs … we would have done about the same work … put in the same effort … spent the same amount of time.
But the difference was he was probably making £195,000 more than I was…
Actually he was probably making much more than that because I learned that at the time the guy was travelling around the seminar circuit. He basically presented EXACTLY the same talk in different venues and events across the USA and would be talking at least 3 or 4 times a week.
That’s maybe $400,000 TO $500,000 CLEAR PROFIT PER WEEK!
Imagine that, £1/2 MILLION DOLLARS A WEEK for what would amount to between 9-12 hours work a week max.
So little surprise then that I become totally hooked on his strategy and adapted it for my cash on demand business.
So while I was in Las Vegas I soaked up everything I could about this technique … a technique which I found was very similar to a lot of the off-peak ‘Infomercials’ that they have running on the cable channels until 6 or 7 in the morning.
Because of the time differences, I was always awake very early anyway … as they are 8 hours behind UK time … so sitting up watching the early morning TV was not a problem for me.
Now one of those infomercials that I saw was an Ad for a FREE seminar on “Making Money in Real Estate”….
The Ad sold the idea of how people could buy properties for ‘No Money Down’ and refurbish them or rent them out to create a portfolio of properties and make themselves wealthy (I’m sure you’ve seen similar offers here in the UK).
At the end of the infomercial they offered FREE afternoon and evening seminars in a number of towns across America.
And because they were advertising on local cable channels, they were able to present a short list of 3 or 4 local venues one of which happened to be right here in Las Vegas the following day.
So, I called the free phone number on the screen and booked myself a free place.
The next day I turned up at the conference venue where the event was being held. Once again, I was amazed to see a long line of people actually queuing to get in … actually scrambling to get in.
There must have been about 200 people in the room all of whom had seen the ad and had decided to attend the free event to be taught how to make money in real estate.
And like the paid-for seminar I had attended earlier that week…
Everything was set up really simply… Just a small stage with a screen which showed a PowerPoint Presentation from a laptop and projector.
In walked the speaker … a young guy in a suit and tie … who proceeded to share with the audience, some techniques for making money on real estate.
Then towards the end of his presentation, he offered a ‘back of the room’ package of additional training at a ‘Paid For’ Seminar to be held in a couple of weeks time.
From memory this time the deal was around $2997 for the back of the room offer.
At the end of the guy’s speech, he asked people to go to the back of the room with their credit cards. Once again, as before, I sat in amazement as people almost ran to the back clutching their cards. I counted about 35 buyers!!
That’s over $100,000 in ‘back of the room sales’ for this one young speaker.
Again – he struck me as ‘nothing special’… this was something I could bring to my cash on demand business with ease.
All he did have was a carefully prepared speech, which he had clearly delivered many times. I have since learned that he … and other colleagues of his … give that same speech twice a day, in similar hotels across the USA 5 days a week each.
If they do $100,000 worth of business at each one – that’s $1 MILLION DOLLARS A WEEK in sales from one speaker!!!!
Yet, what I found MOST interesting about ‘his’ model was that he was merely presenting SOMEONE ELSE’S speech.
SOMEONE ELSE’S success story (he wasn’t the Real Estate Guru – he was just a presenter paid to make the presentation and get people to buy).
In effect what I had seen was a simple extension to the basics of Cash On Demand:-
Find a hungry crowd in a niche market, offer them a low cost (or in this case free) front-end (i.e. the free seminar) and then offer a high ticket, high margin back end product.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I concluded that the business of ”Seminar or Workshop Presentations” is a very powerful cash on demand technique which can make anyone fairly wealthy in a very short space of time.
