Cash On Demand marketing techniques used to sell DVDs

Cash on Demand Modules

Andrew Reynolds talks about selling DVDs using Cash On Demand marketing techniques

One of the issues that I’ve had emails about when setting up this live event here is:

“There will be too many people here; there’s too much competition. Because if you teach us all to do it, that’s going to reduce the market.” Now, Pat that I was talking about a moment ago, runs a little DVD business from his home… Let’s talk about DVDs for a second. I sell DVDs. Pat, wherever he is in the audience, sells DVDs because they are a great product. You buy a DVD for £2; you sell it for maybe £50. It’s a nice little mark-up. It’s not like my dad in his hardware shop, where you buy a box of screws for a tenner and sell it for £12 or £13. The mark-ups are there….

What Pat and I and a number of other people in the room do is we focus on little niche markets. And we’re going to be talking a lot about niche markets this weekend. We focus on niche markets. To say that everybody in this room could go out there with a DVD product and not bump into each other in the marketplace is… that’s no underestimate of the thing. If you go to eBay.com, type in something like “How to DVD” or “How to video,” you’ll find so many niche market titles, you won’t be able to cope.

For example, golf. I found a DVD on eBay showing you how to play golf. There are loads of them. That’s a niche market. These are people that have got money. People that play golf tend to have a few quid. They’re not the struggling students, okay? These are the guys and the ladies that have got a few quid.

I found one on jewellery making. It’s a little niche market; there’s somebody there making a living selling DVDs on jewellery making. Drums — my son is a professional drummer. That’s a whole niche market. I didn’t realize this stuff until he started playing the drums. It’s a whole little niche market. There are DVDs showing you here how to play the drums.

Badminton. Whole niche groups of people, tend to have a few quid; they’ll buy DVDs, they’ll buy training. They’ll buy the latest gear to go with the badminton stuff. Soap-making. I mean, how niche can you get? I don’t know. Learning to surf. Model railways; huge great market for model railways. It’s not my thing; a friend of my mother’s is a model railway enthusiast. He’s got his whole lounge laid out like in this bloody great model railway thing, you know? “Basic Coppersmithing and Flame Painting on Copper” DVD. That’s niche.

I think this was, “How to Get Your Hair Right for Your Big Day”. For your wedding. It’s a DVD showing the girls how to put their hair up for the wedding. “How to Read Faces.” That’s a niche market. “Painting on Silk.” Loads of people interested in painting on silk; you just have to find the little niche market. “How to Become a Singer.” “How to Build Your Own Poker Table.” How to build a professional poker table. That’s a DVD that’s out there selling. And it was like — I don’t know — I think it was $49 or something. It cost two quid. “Kitchens and Bathrooms; How to do Your Plumbing.” “The Right Way for Left-Handed Golfers”. This is real niche stuff.

“Exotic Strip Dancing.” Did you notice, then, just what happened in the room? You know, in my letter, I said, “When you get an idea, jot down one of those little light-bulb diagrams.” There’s about 1,500 blokes, just done a little light-bulb diagram now.

Audience: (Laughter)

“How to Fly a B-17 Flying Fortress Bomber.” That’d be handy, wouldn’t it?
There are guys that buy this stuff. Interesting — just going back on the B-17 thing — that’s actually public domain footage put out by the U.S. Government. You can just get this stuff for free, and then you start selling it to airplane enthusiasts.

“How to Paint your Tractor.” I’m still with the stripper.

Audience: (Laughter)

Angel Card Reading.” I have no idea what angel card reading is, but there are people in that market. This is a DVD sold to people showing them how to do angel card reading.

This one, “The Key to Starting and Running Your Own Business Blacking out Windows on Cars”. “The DJ’s Guide to Scratching.” “Tarot and Astrology.” Huge great market but very much a niche market. “Paint Your Own Car.” This is going to be an exciting DVD, isn’t it?

“Indian Cookery.” “How to Trim Your Horse.” “How to Concrete Your Drive.” “How to go Off-Road Driving.” “How to Tune Your Drums.” Not how to play the damn things; how to tune your drums. “Unique Techniques for Working With Brass Stencils.” “How to Play the Five-String Banjo.” “Weaving and Braiding for Coloured People.” “Belly Dancing.” “How to Play Chess.” I mean, it’s like endless, this stuff.

“Models Boot Camp.” Another light-bulb moment, guys. “How to Make Wooden Rocking-Horses.” “How to Cook and Carve Your Turkey.” They’re selling a DVD showing us how to cook the turkey — so you don’t poison yourself or something — and how to carve it properly.

I’ll show you a Cash On Demand technique later on where you can actually come out with a DVD like that. You can film the thing, you can use free publicity. As I show in Module #6 of Cash On Demand, if you use free publicity, you can could sell that now. This is the time when you’d be selling that. You’re too late; you’ve missed that one. Do it next year.

Finally, “Lock picking.” Be a handy thing to know, wouldn’t it? A DVD showing people how to do lock picking. These are all little niche markets. There are guys there, “Oh, yeah, lock picking. Yeah! Fancy that!”

Do you see what I mean? There are loads and loads and loads of niche markets. So yes, there are a lot of people in the room. And yes, all the coaches this weekend are going to show you techniques for marketing. But you can apply these techniques to any of these things I’ve just shown you, and thousands more. You don’t all have to sell the same thing.

We’re going to teach you the techniques — I’ve got current subscribers to Cash On Demand, have little websites. There’s a guy, sent me — he may be in the room, actually — sent me a link to his website. This is for couples experiencing infertility. That’s a niche market. It’s a very nice DVD to do. That’s an e-book, rather. He’s selling an e-book online for couples experiencing infertility.

Another customer of mine is selling recipes for authentic shish kebab. That’s niche. He sells these on eBay, makes a living out of it. Same guy actually sells magic trick e-books as well. Sells them on eBay. I probably shouldn’t tell you, and if he’s in the room, he’ll kill me; he sells these for about 4 quid — these e-books, on eBay — he got the idea for the magic trick from an old magic book that he paid 4 quid for in a second-hand shop. So he’s not out of pocket when he sold his first one. Amazing!

Another gentleman sent me the link to his site. He’s just come out with an e-book which he sells online, all about milk. It says, “New discoveries are revealing that dairy milk may be the biggest cause of illness in the world today. Learn the shocking truth and protect your health.” Loads of interest from other people in the room. Very health-conscious people; this would be of interest to them. So it’s a little niche-market Cash on Demand product. It’s an e-book.

I think what I’m really saying to you is, people that have come to the workshops before, they’ve taken this stuff onboard and a small percentage of the people in the room have actually done something with it and made a success of it. What I’m going to try to do this weekend is remove the negativity so that every single person in this room will actually go ahead get their Cash ON Demand business started, by doing something with the information I’m giving.
