One bonus item you can give away easily is a Book or Special Report.
There are plenty of examples of people offering a free special report a s bonus. The special report in most cases is merely a 24 page document that could more readily be described as a ‘sales letter’ for a back end product.
However, giving away books is a proven model too. Though of course I’m not talking about books that you pay retail for, but wholesale lots you can buy in bulk from wholesalers.
You can often get bulk lots of end of line books. For instance, in a recent search on Google I just found copies of “The Complete Idiots Guide to making Millions on the Internet…” being offered.
This £17.95 book is available at the bulk ‘remainder’ wholesalers for just £2.50 a copy … with a minimum order of just £100 worth of books.
Now – of course this is not without risk. You may end up with too few or too many books. But imagine your customer getting a book worth £17.95 FREE as part of a £47 DVD set.
I personally know at least one author who gives away a copy of his own book, which has again, a high perceived value of maybe £19.99.
The book is a full size paperback that he had a freelance writer put together for him. He gets them printed almost ‘on demand’ and pays around £3 a book. So for £3.00 he can add a full £19.99 value product to his package as a free bonus. He even signs the copies to give them a more personal feel.
Furthermore, his book is in fact a subtle selling tool for back end sales. In his book he talks bout his personal coaching courses and provides websites etc for people to go to view the details and to enrol. So not only is it a great bonus on the ‘front end’ but it is also a great tool for selling back end products easily and creating more cash on demand.
