In another part of Khayelitsha, Andrew Reynolds was introduced to a lovely lady called Rosie. Rosie had been running a soup kitchen – making up to 400 meals a day for the children in her community who would otherwise go hungry.
A charity had been providing the raw ingredients for her to run the kitchen…which offered three meals a day to the 400 kids. But problems had arisen when the charity had run out of money and could no longer send the ingredients to Rosie. Rosie described the appalling feeling of having to turn away hungry children. She said that at first the kids thought it was a joke – when she said there was no food. Rosie said she was so sad and had to ask her helper to explain to the kids why there was no food today. It was heart-breaking for her.
Attendees at Andrew Reynolds Cash On Demand Bootcamp event at the O2 Arena, watched a documentary film of Andrews first meeting with Rosie. She showed him around her wooden hut where she has a couple of propane gas rings and a sink from which to prepare the meals.
There was hardly a dry eye in the house as students of Andrew Reynolds Cash On Demand course watched him – quite out of the blue – offer to send money each month to Rosie, from the UK, so that she could keep the soup kitchen open for years to come. Andrew agreed with a tearful Rosie to send money every month – enough for her to buy the raw foodstuffs each week to make the 400 meals 3 times a day.
That was a couple of years ago after which Andrew revisited Rosie again to see how she had reopened the kitchen and was using the money to help the kids. (see REVISITING )
Hi Andrew
We are a yoga studio in Cape Town which helps Rosie by delivering food for the children every month.
I wanted to know if your company is still helping and how.
Thanks for your time
Love and blessings to you
